Functionalist vs. Conflit theorist?

Functionalist theorists would have to explain how these tax reforms contribute in some way to holding society together. So if they benefit the rich and hurt the poor, you would have to explain how this does not lead to tearing apart the society. So for example the conservative ideology is that if you let the rich get richer, the money they spend trickles down to eventually give jobs to the poorer cles, so all benefit. The conflict theorist, like the Marxists, would explain how this government support of the ruling cl, actually alienates the workers further via exploitation. The pressures built up by exploitation over time will create mive conflict leading to revolution. so does this help a bit
