Is it ok to feed my senior cat meat?

16 yr old cat who is really starting to show her age over the last 1-2 years. quite thin now at 5.5 lbs. vet recently found normal thyroid and bloodwork. still normal litter box behavior, eating and drinking semi well, but seems less that used to be. just trying to keep her weight on, even maybe gain a little? she loves meat of course and we've always treated her with bites here and there. would it be ok or even beneficial to go ahead and give her some chicken or turkey everyday? or is that too much protein....i thought i had heard/read something about too much protein...thanks.
