Is The Prestige underrated?

I just finished watching this movie, and thought that it is one of the best movie I have ever seen (in my opinion of course). However, I have never heard of this film before, and most of my friends haven't either. I only came across the title and decided to watch it because it was a Christopher Nolan film. I then asked 15 people who have seen The Prestige if they liked it better than Inception, and 13 out of 15 of them said The Prestige was better! How can a movie that is considered slightly better than Inception be so not-well known? Do you also feel like this movie is underrated?
