1989 Jeep Cherokee hard to start, loses power on acceleration?

change your fuel pump. it has a bleed-back valve that is designed to keep pressure at your injectors. you should have 34 psi while idling with pressure regulator connected and 40 psi with it disconnected. I have a 1988 and the same thing happened, hope this helps.
